Anyone interested in Caribbean art needs to read this detailed scholarly work!…This book is definitely worth the purchase. Good: How many texts are there on Caribbean art?Bad: The text does not include much of the great many African inspired art of the Caribbean. Most of the pieces included are the ones with more of a European style. Looking at this book one would think this is the only style in the Caribbean. Few to no pieces are representative of the various African religions practiced in the Caribbean such as Vodun (which is spoken about but minimilized), Okomfo (Obeah), or the Yoruba-based traditions. The majority of the pieces are by Cubans of Spaniard origin, which are not representative of the Caribbean as a wholeA little more beat up than I expected but still serves its function.Fascinating if you like art...but it is used as a college text, so most would not be willing to read it!Good resource for Caribbean Art.Inexpensive...very good condition....would recommend it to my students would appreciate the price....this is such a blessing to purchase text so reasonable and in such good conditionE xcellent.First book ever that attempts to put together the art of the Carribean, and succeeds in doing so.A pioneering achievement.Excellent buy and as described, thanks
